The Himalayan Society of Geoscientists organised a two-day programme on “Geohazards and Socio-Economic Concerns in the Himalaya” at the Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Nainital.
The sessions brought together geoscientists, engineers, administrators and students to discuss landslides, earthquakes, floods and slope instability in the Himalaya, and — equally — the social and economic pressures these hazards place on hill communities. The event was attended by 135 participants.
